A tour of the proposed Paull Village Enhancement Scheme : 6

view of Paull picnic area

This view is from the existing car park, facing south. It is the site of a Royal Engineers facility, demolished many years ago. Older village residents confirm that the site originally included a village pond. It includes a rough, poorly demarcated track whick provides access to the bank-top walks and links to recently-improved footpaths which meander through the wooded area in the background of the picture and ultimately link to another rough footpath around the perimeter of Fort Paull.

Recommendations are:

  • Excavate / re-build the village pond
  • Introduce all year/weather pathways of a gentle gradient to accomodate wheelchair access to upper pathways
  • Shape and contour adjacent grassed area for play & picnic use
  • Note - based upon projected visitor numbers, provision to extend the car park into this area may need to be considered
